In their second matchup of the season, the Pioneers came out with intensity to try and outweigh their oversized opponent in WCDS. Wakefield controlled the ball throughout the first half, but defenders: Savannah Holmes and Theresa Stanley did their fair share to keep the Owls from shots on goal. "I am impressed with how well our defense has played so far this season," Coach Fries stated, "They do not let their size affect the game play." The point that Coach Fries is making is that the opponent's 'attackers' are much taller and stronger than FVCS, but they are certainly not more physical. The physical play of the defenders limited WCDS to five shots on goal for the entire game. Unfortunately, two of them were amazing kicks that the keeper could not reach. The final score in the match, WCDS 2, FVCS 0. The Pioneers are looking to gain more control in in the midfield next match as they face SVCA.
