The Lady Pioneers fell just short in their first conference game of the season. The team not having a single practice on a full field certainly showed in the first 30 minutes. But FVC held their own with some excellent defense by Sophie DeMoss. Trailing 2-0, a powerful shot by team captain, Jen Knoebel lit a fire under the Lady Pioneers heading into the 2nd half. Jessie Fortunato controlled the tempo in the 2nd half, dominating the center of the field, constantly putting pressure on the Patriot defense. The offense continued to pound the Patriots, but the team could not put it all together and tie up the game. The Patriots took a 3-1 lead in the 70th minute, trying to seal the game; but FVC did not give in one bit. The  Lady Pioneers brought the score back within one in the 73rd minute on a second goal by Jen Knoebel. The team continued to fight, and they finished their night leaving on that note. With a 180 turnaround in the 2nd half, and impressive play by freshmen: Jessie Fortunato, Macy Houston, and Bethany Worsham, this season holds much potential for the Lady Pioneers.

The team will host SVA in their home opener this Thursday at 4:30 pm.
